Lindsey’s wedding was one of a kind experiences for us. She was not just a client, she is a friend and that makes our job both easier and more difficult at the same time. Easier from the perspective that we feel comfortable with the wedding party, the bridge and groom, and the guests; more difficult because everyone knows us

I was amazed throughout the day at the composure of Lindsey and despite a few changes that were needed last minute, she adapted better than most! Lindsey Walker is the definition of the perfect bride!

I could spend hours talking about Julie and Doug, but I’ll let the pictures speak for them:

The main entrance to Run Along Farms is a beautiful view, especially at sunset!

The Stalls are large, well kept and the entire area is clean and inviting

The day was perfect, perfect fall weather, perfect location, and the perfect couple! They are both wonderful and easy going and a real joy to work with. Danielle called us back in April and we clicked from the start, her bubbly personality along with Travis’ quiet demeanor makes for an interesting yet loving contrast. Here a few images from that session, as you will see quickly the love they share for each other is profound.

We are proud to announce that we have raised over $3,275.00 for the Susan G. Komen Foundation. In all total, our donation will break $4,000.00.

It was not long after that show that Nancy called inquiring about senior portraits for Lindsey. So on an off evening during the Illinois State Fair Junior Horse Show we met at the fairgrounds for her session. The weather was perfect, albeit a little warm the light was fantastic and as always I had a beautiful and energetic model.

Here are a few images from that senior portrait session, I hope you enjoy them as much as Lindsey and I did in creating them.

One of the things that Lindsey definitely wanted to do was get some images of her and her beautiful horse Speckles. So we spent the first hour or so just taking some shots of Lindsey and Speckles. The purpose was really two fold, one to give Lindsey the images she desired but also to give her an opportunity to get comfortable and enjoy her senior portrait session.

It was obvious watching Lindsey and Speckles interact that these are two that really share a bond, a love that can only be shared between a woman and her horse.

A few of the images were Lindsey on Speckles and it was then that I decided to try a few shots with the lens baby lens. Lindsey was not really sure about the shots at first, but being the good sport she played along

We then just started shooting and having fun, when you have someone as photogenic as Lindsey, the work of the photographer is not only easy, it is just plain fun!

This is without a doubt one of my favorites. It has that natural, windblown look to it that I think really shows Lindsey’s beauty…

At one point Lindsey and I moved off away from her family to just get some nice head shots and with a swing close by, well it was something we just could not pass up!

Can’t leave out the barn shot when you have a horse woman!

We rounded out the evening with a few shots inside the barn with a little fill light.

The last shot was Lindsey talking Speckles for a walk….

I would like to thank both Nancy King and Lindsey for allowing me the pleasure of capturing Lindsey’s senior portraits, it was a fun evening that I will remember for years to come!

I thought that the worst was over, but I was wrong. No sooner had I parked the truck at the motel that the skies opened up again the rains came and poured for the rest of the night. As much fun as I had that weekend, I was very happy to get back to a dry Springfield!

Here are a few images from that weekend. Despite the rain, it was an enjoyable weekend with plenty of friends and beautiful horses.

Although I spend a lot of time shooting weddings, senior portrait sessions and cutting shows, my first love is endurance / competitive distance riding. It is the comaraderie of the riders, the environment of horse and man, the elements of nature thrown in – it is the combination of these and just my love for being outdoors; there is nothing quite like watching everyone do their part to ensure the safety of the horses and riders, and how as a group everyone pulls together to make the weekend a successful one. Equine photography will always remain a part of our business and within that endurance / competitive distance will always be at the top!

Here are a few images from the ride, it was a bright, warm weekend with no rain and blue skies. Perfect weather for riding horses!

Mandy wanted to have some portrait images taken of her and her two horses while wearing her beautiful pink toned  prom dress.  At first there was a concern how the horses would react to the rumbling and crackling of the dress but to all of our surprise, the horses acted as if nothing was out of the ordinary.

As she emerged from the barn, I started shooting, primarily to get some meter readings and to also catch Mandy in a casual environment.  Of course the moment she realized that the camera was rolling she started laughing and all of her concern and fear went away….
